A new coworking space is coming to Burlington, offering employees a chance to get out of the house if their offices are still closed and giving entrepreneurs a place to build their dreams.
District No. 3, the latest coworking space in Alamance County, is slated to open this fall.
The space is being launched by local entrepreneur Feraud Calixte and will include eight private offices, the option of a designated desk in an open working area or a "pick from what's available" set up for other desks.

Calixte currently runs Vantage Point Planning, a local financial planning firm, that will also be housed inside the coworking space.
"District No. 3 will be a space intentionally designed to help its members connect, collaborate and create. Members will enjoy perks such as private offices, high-speed internet, conference space, a mindfulness room, phone booth, onsite parking and special events such as networking, member socials, speaker series and more," a press release announcing the project said.
District No. 3 will take over the former North Star Marketing office located at 727 Kivett St. The location is less than 5 miles from Elon University and less than a mile from the downtown Burlington business district.
"We think that we're positioned to really add value to our members and be another option and be part of the revitalization that's happening (downtown) and that's
awesome," Calixte said.
“We’re bullish on Burlington and think there’s a bright future here. There is so much potential in this area and we’re bringing our own investment and energy to execute our vision. As more and more people are re-evaluating traditional work arrangements, we feel District No. 3 can provide an attractive solution," he added.
Several membership options are available and Calixte said the coworking space is already pre-leasing. Membership options include:
- Private office: $650/month with a $200 joining fee; Includes 24/7 access, on-site parking, unlimited conference room hours and mail service
- Dedicated desk: $350/month with a $50 joining fee; Includes 24/7 access and on-site parking
- Hot desk (choose from the desks available): $275/month with a $50 joining fee; Includes 24/7 access, on-site parking and unlimited conference room hours
- Community member: $175/month with a $25 joining fee; Includes 10 days per month in the coworking space during regular business hours, two conference room hours and on-site parking
- Day Pass: $50
"I think that there's enough people that value collaboration, being able to connect with other people and (a) creative space so the coworking space ... is going to be that. (It's) the happy medium to people who don't really want to work at home full time and don't want to go to office full time, so we're offering flexibility but we're also offering that culture," Calixte said.
Calixte also hopes that District No. 3 will become an incubator and innovation hub for entrepreneurs looking to launch their dream business in the area.
"I'm an entrepreneur. I believe in entrepreneurship and investing in our community and I think that Burlington deserves a space like that, where we can kind of encourage entrepreneurship. There's excitement about people investing in the community," he said.
Calixte is eyeing late October or early November for the grand opening, but in the meantime a groundbreaking ceremony will be held Oct. 7.
"We think that Burlington has a lot of potential and we're just super excited about being a small piece and investing in the community and really being part of that change," Calixte said.
