Three area high school football teams were selected for the NCHSAA state playoffs, in the brackets released Saturday.
Western Alamance, the Mid-State 3-A Conference champion, landed the No. 5 seed in the Class 3-A bracket and will travel to fourth-seeded Fayetteville Terry Sanford.
Eastern Alamance, the Mid-State 3-A runner-up, received an at-large bid and is the No. 8 seed in the Class 3-A bracket. The Eagles will play at top-seeded Rocky Mount.
If the Warriors and Eagles win their respective first-round games, they will meet each other in the second round.
Eastern Randolph, the PAC 7 Conference runner-up, received an automatic bid and is the No. 7 seed in the Class 2-A bracket. The Wildcats will play at Clinton in the first round.
First-round games are scheduled for Friday night.
The field this year is half the normal size due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the truncated spring season.
