Week 4 of the high school football season features five games tonight involving seven teams from Alamance County and the surrounding area. Here’s who’s in action from area schools, plus a look ahead at Monday night's matchup between Cummings and Eastern Alamance:
Southern Alamance (2-0) at Western Alamance (0-2), 7 p.m.
This is a non-conference game. … This is the first time Western Alamance has started a season 0-2 in the 12 seasons Jeff Snuffer has served as the school’s head coach. … The Southern Alamance defense has allowed only 238 combined yards and nine total points through its first two games. … The last meeting between these teams came in 2019, a game the Warriors won 9-0, via three Joshua Karty field goals. Karty is now the starting kicker at Stanford. … Western Alamance has won seven of the last eight meetings between these two schools. Southern Alamance’s lone victory in that stretch came in 2018 by a final score of 14-3.

Eastern Randolph (2-0) at Williams (1-2), 7 p.m.
This is a non-conference game. … This is Eastern Randolph’s second game against a team from Alamance County this season. The Wildcats defeated visiting Eastern Alamance 34-6 in the season opener. … Williams senior running back Alijah Richmond, one of the Bulldogs’ top offensive players, made his season debut last week in a 22-9 loss to Southern Alamance, rushing for 46 yards on eight carries. … These programs last played one another in the 2006 East Regional final of the NCHSAA Class 3-AA state playoffs. The Wildcats won 34-20 before going on to claim the state title with a 15-7 victory over Charlotte Catholic.

Graham (1-1) at Wake Christian Academy (1-0), 7:30 p.m.
This is a non-conference game. … After totaling 50 points in a season-opening victory against Carrboro, the Red Devils were held to one touchdown in last week’s 20-7 loss to visiting Bishop McGuinness. … Wake Christian Academy opened its season last Thursday with a 14-7 victory at John Paul II Catholic in Greenville. … A Graham victory would give the Red Devils its most wins in a season since 2017, when the program finished 3-9. … Wake Christian Academy finished the 2021 spring season with a 0-4 record. Graham finished 1-5.

Jamestown Ragsdale (1-1) at Eastern Guilford (0-1), 7:30 p.m.
This is a non-conference game. … Eastern Guilford returns to competition, after dealing with COVID-related issues, for the first time since a season-opening 35-7 loss to Northern Guilford in Week 1. The Wildcats’ longest play from the line of scrimmage went for 14 yards in that game. … Jamestown Ragsdale enters this contest following a 35-6 loss at Winston-Salem Oak Grove last week. … Eastern Guilford junior linebacker Braxton Veiga recorded nine tackles, including three stops for losses, in the Week 1 game.

East Chapel Hill (0-2) at Bartlett Yancey (2-0), 7:30 p.m.
This is a non-conference game pitting Class 4-A East Chapel Hill against the Class 2-A Buccaneers. … Through two games this season, East Chapel Hill has been outscored by a combined 106-6. Meanwhile, Bartlett Yancey has outscored its opponents 88-22. … Bartlett Yancey senior running back Jayquan Morton has racked up 154 yards and three touchdowns on 10 carries this season. Junior running back Donte Slade has rushed for a team-best 184 yards and one score on 24 carries. … Bartlett Yancey has won three straight games against East Chapel Hill, including a 22-20 victory in 2019.
Monday’s game
Cummings (2-0) at Eastern Alamance (0-1), 6:30 p.m.
This is a non-conference game. … Eastern Alamance hasn’t played since its Week 1 loss at Eastern Randolph as the program has been in COVID protocol. … Cummings is 2-0 to start the season for the first time since 2011, which is the last time the Cavaliers defeated Eastern Alamance. The Eagles have won eight straight in the series since, including a 58-32 victory in 2019. … Cummings starting quarterback Tylek Oliver is “day-to-day, week-to-week,” after suffering a bruised spine in the Cavaliers’ 54-12 victory against visiting Orange last week.
