The contest is made possible in part by a grant through the N.C. Arts Council and Alamance Arts. Because of the coronavirus pandemic, there was no awards ceremony. Students received certificates by mail, and in lieu of trophies, gift cards for Smitty’s Ice Cream. Seventeen schools submitted 276 entries from grades three through 12.
The Alamance Battleground Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution presented Good Citizenship awards, scholarships and pins to six students from Alamance County schools, recognizing dependability, cooperation, leadership and patriotism.
Each school chose its own way of presenting awards this year. The awards were delivered to each by education liaison Billy Swain. Winners were Jonathan Freeman of Alamance Christian School, Benjamin Johns of Burlington Christian School, Alex Catalano of Eastern Alamance High School, Alexander Jeffries of Graham High School, Victor Gaspar of Williams High School, and Landon Flood of Western Alamance High School.
