GRAHAM — Alamance Community College student Lillia Diez has been named a winner of the 2024 Dallas Herring Achievement Award by the North Carolina Community College System.

Diez was one of 58 nominees, representing each of the state’s community colleges. The award was established by the NCCCS in 2010 to honor the late Dallas Herring, one of North Carolina’s earliest champions of community colleges. It is awarded annually to a current or former student who best embodies Herring’s philosophy of “taking people where they are and carrying them as far as they can go.”
