The Alamance Narcotics Enforcement Team has received the 2024 National High Intensity Drug Trafficking Areas award for the Atlanta-Carolinas Region from the U.S. Office of National Drug Control Policy.

A targeted investigation was launched to dismantle local money laundering operations, and Task Force Group 65, made up of ANET and other agencies, orchestrated a series of operations that led to 82 arrests and the seizure of 611 kilograms of cocaine, 340 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine, 8.7 kilograms of fentanyl and $5.6 million, and thwarted a planned robbery, ANET Lt. Shelly Katkowski said in a news release. It also led to the dismantling of multiple Mexican drug trafficking organizations operating within the Middle District of North Carolina.
