ELON — Patrick “Pat” Kennedy Ravey passed away at Cone Health — ARMC on Monday, March 11, 2024 after a courageous battle with cancer.
Pat was born to Donald J. and Margaret C. Ravey on Feb. 21, 1939 in Colchester, VT. A Vermont Military Academy grad (1960) and a former National Guardsman, he spent 36 years working at IBM in Essex Jct., VT as one of the original employees. Pat was also a past president of Essex Rescue and served the community for 8 years as an EMT. After retirement, Pat and his wife, Gayle, moved to Gibsonville, NC where they both volunteered for several years at ARMC.
Pat was known for his dry sense of humor and legendary story telling. He forgot nothing and his memory of even the smallest detail served to enhance his stories. Many hours were spent with friends and family regaling them with stories from his life, career and hobbies.
Pat is survived by his wife of the home, Gayle (Lyman) Ravey; children Patrick (John Coppinger) Ravey, Pamela LePage, Michael Ravey, Donald Ravey and Stephanie (Jerry) Williams; grandchildren Jill (Patrick) Dolan, Kyle (Stephanie) Ravey, Samantha (Nick) Kehaya, Matthew (Kelsey) Ravey, Rhyu LePage, Megan Duthie, Sara (Drew) Webster, Savannah Williams, and Madelyn Williams; six great-grandchildren; sister Kathleen Ravey, cousin Sr. Ruth Ravey, brother in law Thomas (Carol) Lyman, sister in law Marcia Lyman; and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by both parents, his brother Fr. Donald Ravey, and his son Timothy Ravey.
Funeral service will be held at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, Graham, NC on Thursday, March 21, 2024 at noon with internment in Vermont at a later date.
