A car hit and killed a pedestrian laying in the road on Wednesday night, police said.
On Wednesday, Sept. 23, at 10:36 p.m, police responded to a car accident in the 1100 block of East Harden Street in Graham.
A man was driving a 2000 Ford Ranger Northwest on East Harden Street. Police said he saw a pedestrian, who was later identified as John Franklin Burch, 45, wearing dark clothes lying in the middle of the travel lanes.
Once the driver saw the Burch, he tried to swerve out of the way but wasn't able to avoid hitting him, according to a press release.
Burch died at the scene, the release said.
Police suspect Burch was drunk at the time of the incident, and they don't plan to file charges against the driver.
