A man died early Thursday morning when his car overturned on South Beaumont Avenue in Burlington.
Police say just before 4 a.m. on Aug. 6, they noticed a stationary 2019 Dodge Challenger on Rainey Street. The police were going to investigate, when the car began driving toward Beaumont Avenue, according to a press release from the Burlington Police Department.
About five minutes later, officers say they received a 911 call about that same car, which had overturned in the 600 block of Beaumont Avenue. Police arrived to find the car on the side of the road, with the driver, Mandrell Edward Davis, 29, of Elon, ejected from the vehicle, according to the press release.
Police say Davis died in the accident. No one else was injured, and Davis was the only person in the vehicle.
During the accident, Davis' car hit a power pole, which police said caused the area to lose power for a few hours.
Anyone with additional information is asked to contact the Burlington Police Department at 336-229-3500 or Crimestoppers at 336-229-7100 or by using the mobile App P3 Tips.
