A Burlington man who was accused of molesting children in Virginia had his felony charges dropped on Thursday.
Mark Anthony Stanley, 61, was visiting Spotsylvania, Virginia, on Dec. 29, 2019, when a father woke up and saw him standing in his children's room with his pants down, The Free-Lance Star reported. The children were 2 and 3 years old at the time.
The prosecutor told The Free-Lance Star that the charges were dropped because there was no evidence the children had been molested. Stanely was extremely drunk, and the father later suggested he may have thought he was in the bathroom.
On Oct. 28, 2020, Stanley pleaded guilty in Spotsylvania Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court to two misdemeanor counts of indecent exposure and received a suspended sentence.
The Spotsylvania County Commonwealth Attorney's Office, the Virginia equivalence to a district attorney, didn't respond to a request for comment.
